Lincoln County Opportunity Company, Inc. offers a wide range of valuable community-based services through our senior centers in Lincoln and Wayne County, WV. These programs are designed to provide older individuals and vulnerable populations in our communities the assistance needed to live with dignity and independence. From nutrition assistance, transportation, and health screenings to providing help with understanding complicated Medicare issues and much more, we’re here to make life a little easier.

Farmers Market Vouchers


Farmers Market Coupons (vouchers) are provided by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. These may be exchanged for fresh, unprepared, locally-grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey from participating farmers markets. Participants are encouraged to use the entire value of each voucher. Change cannot be given for any unused portion.

Application Process

Individuals aged 60 and above who meet income guidelines can call or stop into their local senior center to determine eligibility and sign up for the Farmers’ Market Coupons (vouchers) in June of each year. We expect to have the Farmers Market Vouchers available to distribute starting July 1st.

SHIP Medicare & Insurance Counseling


You have a right to quality healthcare through your insurance plan –- and a right to understand your health insurance coverage. We can help.

Get Answers About Health Insurance

Our West Virginia SHIP (State Health Insurance Information Assistance Program) counselors provide free, objective, and confidential information and answers to your questions about Medicare, Medigap plans, and long-term care insurance plans. We also help beneficiaries and their families understand Medicare prescription drug coverage (Medicare Part D) options available in West Virginia and compare Medicare supplement plans. In addition, SHIP counselors can help you understand medical bills, coverage, health insurance claims, insurance options, and Medicare summary notices.

Health Screenings


Lincoln County Opportunity Company, Inc. offers a variety of health screening clinics that focus on providing preventive care and health maintenance services for older adults. Several types of routine testing are available. These vary month-to-month and by location, but may include:

  • Blood Pressure Testing
  • Quick Overall Health Checks
  • Foot Clinics
  • Blood Sugar Screening
  • Cardiac Risk Screening
  • Cholesterol Screening
  • Influenza & Pneumonia Vaccinations

No appointment is necessary and there is no charge for this service.

“Ask a Nurse” and Referral Service

You can also get answers to your questions about specific medications and general health questions from our registered nurse during the clinic. Appropriate service referrals for in-home care and community services are made available to those who may benefit from these programs, as well. Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)


Staying warm in winter can be a financial hardship for seniors on fixed incomes and individuals with lower incomes. The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) helps bring down the winter heating costs for eligible individuals. Low-income households can apply for assistance in the form of periodic payments made directly to their utility company on their behalf. The credit will be applied to the utility account. Households experiencing a heating emergency may be eligible for emergency crisis assistance through this program, as well.

Application Process

Applicants must meet LIEAP eligibility guidelines to qualify for assistance through this program, with applications accepted beginning November each year. We can help you complete and submit your application for assistance through this and other available programs in Lincoln and Wayne County, WV. If you prefer, you may submit your application directly.
